The Jays kicked off their season with a valiant effort against Birmingham 3s, arguably their toughest team in the division having seeing Loughborough 3s been promoted last season. Captain Amelia Burdett lead the Jays into the first quarter, the most challenging one at 17-2 with a lot of learning points for the rest of the game.
The second quarter saw the Jays’ prime play, losing the quarter only 14-8 as everything started to click. From here on the team started to enjoy it more, using the game for match experience, working on all the very new combinations and communications within the units.
The third and fourth quarters saw further consistency from the second, but with many players taking falls either due to the opposition or the desire to get the ball.
The game ended with a score of 68-20 to Birmingham, there is a lot to take away and develop but they hope to get a closer score line when they play again in February.
