The 2022-23 season so far has been hugely successful for CULNC. With over 70 people at preseason and over 100 sign-ups for trials, the standard of play was extremely high from the outset and selection decisions were extremely difficult. We have a new coach on board, Jess Melville, who has been looking after our Blues, with Vicky Otterburn coaching the 2s and Jo Moxham coaching the 3s and 4s with the help of Millie Diss.

Michaelmas Term was a hugely successful one for our teams, with the Blues currently sitting in 3rd place in Midlands Division 1, the Jays securing a win in the final game of the term against Leicester 1s who are at the top of their league, the Swallows going undefeated in BUCS Division 5B and the Wrens winning competitive matches against local teams Cojags and Swifts. Looking forward to Lent Term, the highlight will certainly be a Home Varsity on 26th February! This will involve matches for all four teams, and I am confident that we can bring home a win for the Light Blues in each game! For the first time ever, we will also be hosting a Development Squad Varsity on 25th February – bringing the total number of matches to 5! This is a really exciting opportunity for the members of the Development Squad and I am sure they will be training hard at their sessions with our Development Squad Officers: Clodagh Bottomley, Maia von Malaise, Samalka Perera and India Foster.

Another extremely exciting piece of news to update you on is our new partnership with London Pulse. This partnership aims at their pathway athletes to promote the idea that sporting and educational excellence can, and do, go together. We kicked off with a match day in Cambridge followed by a tour and talk at Gonville and Caius College. The Blues will be hosted by Pulse on the 17th January for another match which we are looking forward to! A group of us will also be going to support Pulse at one of their Super League games on 4th March. We are as ever extremely grateful to our sponsors: Brown Shipley and Oxbow Partners, for all their support for what we do.
