Cambridge Netball enjoyed a triumphant Varsity Weekend 2025, securing five wins from six matches and once again ensuring the trophy remains Light Blue. The action began on Saturday with the Alumni Showcase, where Cambridge’s former stars proved their class in a dominant 55–33 victory that looked inevitable from the first whistle. The Robins followed with a thrilling 35–33 win, driven by excellent shooting, slick passing, and loud support from CULNC.

Sunday opened with the Wrens at a bright 9am start. Ready for action, they fought through an exceptionally tight match, using sharp intercepts and composed shooting to edge Oxford 35–33. The Swallows then overturned a first-quarter deficit with crucial turnovers and accurate finishing to seal a 44–39 win, confirming Cambridge’s Varsity crown before the final whistle of the day. The Jays delivered the most emphatic result, controlling play throughout in a commanding 46–33 victory.

The Blues rounded off the weekend in the showcase fixture. Captain Izzy Howse made a long-awaited return after more than a year out injured, pulling in intercepts across the court and inspiring her team in a fiercely contested clash. Despite their efforts, Cambridge were edged out 38–40 in a narrow defeat.

Overall, Cambridge retained the Varsity title 4–1, a reflection of the squad’s commitment and hard work throughout the season. CULNC is grateful to all supporters for their banners and “GDBO” chants, and to sponsors Brown & Shipley and Oxbow Partners for backing the campaign. Bring on Varsity 2026.
